NovaStar: Entire section/s of modules discolored in the display
Potential Symptoms
- Entire section of modules discolored
- Multiple sections of modules discolored
Environment
- Product: Nova MCTRL 600, Nova MCTRL 660, NovaStar VX4S, NovaStar brand sender box and receiver cards
- Components: NovaLCT-Mars
- Control System: Market Standard or Limited Compliance using transmit common/open protocol
- This includes but not limited to DVN-4003, Dragon sticks, J Series, JVX, PPX, U Series, Q Series, QVN, Z Series, and ZPN.
Cause
- Receiver card lost configuration
- Receiver card failed completely
- Bad Cat6 cable
Resolution
- Sending receiver card configuration to the specific receiver card. If that doesn't resolve the issue proceed to step #2.
- Reference "NovaStar: How do I configure a NovaLCT-Mars Sender Box? x" for instructions on how to load and send the receiver card configuration file. It may take some time for the new receiver card to read the config from the sending box. Switch the display to test pattern and then back to normal content to force it to take the new config data faster.
- Swap the Cat6 cable connected to the input of the receiver card with a new spare. If that doesn't resolve the issue reconnect the original Cat6 cable and proceed to step #3.
- Replace the receiver card with a new one and cycle power to the entire display. If that doesn't resolve the issue proceed to step #4.
-
After replacing a receiver card, if the section is blank, try sending receiver card configuration to the specific receiver card instead of sending it to all.

If the recently replaced section still appears blank, or bright white, it might be because the new receiver card has not read the dimming values yet. Switch the display to test pattern and then back to normal content to force it to quickly read the correct dimming levels.
