Pitch Tracking Interface: Unable to get radar gun serial data to pass through Data Server and output UDP

Potential Symptoms

  • Can see data coming in serial port in Data Monitor, but nothing outputting on configured UDP output port (21003).

Environment

  • Product: MLB StatCast Pitch Interface
  • Components: Data Server, backup radar source
  • Control System: MLB

Cause

  • Format of incoming data does not match preconfigured setups in Data Server (e.g. JUGs, Stalker Sport, Stalker Pro).

Resolution

  1. Monitor the incoming format data either from Data Monitor on the serial port or from Event Viewer >> Applications and Services Logs >> Daktronics (in the example below the format is 080: which came from a Stalker Sports radar gun).

  2. In Data Server, click on the configure gear in the lower right  corner of the StatCast Pitch Tracking tile.
  3. Click on the configure gear for the Radar Gun Input Feature.
  4. Set the Gun Type to Custom.
  5. Set the format to one that matches the incoming format (e.g. ###:).
  6. Verify the data is now outputting in on port 21003 or whatever the configured ERTD port is.
