Galaxy mirror blank, Port B test shows signal failure; Interconnect cables connected incorrectly

Potential Symptoms

  • GS6/GT6 mirror side blank.
  • Port B test from the VIP shows data connection failure at modules connecting to the mirror face.
    • A failure is designated by solid red modules.
    • A passing port test is designated by solid green modules.

Environment

  • Product Family: Message Displays
  • Product: GS6, GT6, Primary Mirror (2V) Setup Small Matrix - (RJ45 Quick Connects)
  • Component: Small Matrix - (RJ45 Quick Connects), Interconnect cable connections
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite (VCS)

Cause

  • Interconnect cables are connected incorrectly.  They are going Signal Out to Signal Out and Signal In to Signal In.

Resolution

  • Connect the interconnect cables from Signal Out to Signal In and Signal In to Signal Out.  See the picture below for details. 
    • NOTE: The label on Mirror Face quick connect may not be correct. Signal OUT may be on top.
    • Cables should still be connected Top Jack to Top Jack and Bottom Jack to Bottom Jack.
    • Cables should not cross each other if installed properly.
