Content Studio: Unable to open from Venus Control Suite Media Library; Installer has not completed or the program was never installed

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to open Content Studio when clicking New Content Studio Presentation in Venus Control Suite (VCS).
  • Unable to open an existing Content Studio presentation when clicking the pencil icon to edit the presentation in Content Studio.
  • When New Content Studio Presentation is clicked either an error will pop up (pictured below) or nothing will pop up at all ("Don't show this message again" option in the error prompt was likely selected).
    • Pop up Message: Content Studio attempted to launch.  If Content Studio did not launch, please contact Daktronics support. Content Studio can be used to create and edit presentations. New presentations, or changes made to existing presentations are automatically reflected in your library.
    • When clicking Okay on the error, the prompt goes away and returns to the Media Library.
  • Even after entering correct credentials, receiving error message: Content Studio could not log into the Venus Control Suite server using the provided credentials. Please re-enter your account information and try again.

  • When attempting to launch Content Studio through Venus Control Suite receive alert, "You'll need a new app to open this dak-cs".

Cause

  • Content Studio installer (Venus client) has not been completed on the computer.
    • May occur after a change of computers.
  • Content Studio installer was never installed on the computer that the customer is using Venus Control Suite on.

Resolution

  1. Install Content Studio by following Content Studio: How do I download for Venus Control Suite? .
    • If the computer Control Panel in fact shows that the Venus Client is installed, then run a repair on the Venus Client.
  2. Open Content Studio by following Content Studio: How do I use with Venus Control Suite? .

For Temporary Operation

  • Use Adobe Photoshop (or similar software) to create the content and import using the Upload File option in Venus Control Suite.
  • Use the built in Web Compositor tool to create content within Venus Control Suite.
  • Use a different internet browser to log into Venus Control Suite and launch Content Studio.
