When logging into VIP web configuration page, get white screen or see web page but cannot enter credentials

Potential Symptoms

  • When logging into web config page, get Silverlight "white screen of death" and no window pops up for login credentials of username and password.
  • When using emulation mode of 10 or 9 (pressing F12 key), the pop up for username password comes up, but unable to click on anything after logging in.
  • Clearing browser and Silverlight cache makes no difference.

Cause

  • Internet Explorer/Silverlight compatibility issue.
    • Seen with Microsoft Silverlight v 5.1.4046, may affect other versions.

Resolution

Add the VIP IP address to items opened up in compatibility view.

  1. Press the ALT key while in Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to the Tools menu.
  3. Select Compatibility View Settings.
  4. Type in the IP of the VIP in the Add this website section (e.g. 192.168.0.160).
  5. Click Add.
  6. Verify Display intranet sites in Compatibility View is checked as well.
    • If this option is grayed out proceed to one of the workarounds listed below.
  7. Click Close.
  8. Try reloading the webpage for the VIP (may need to close out of IE and reopen).

For Temporary Operation

  • Try another browser.
  • Try logging in from the VNet using VNC.
  • Try logging in from a non-Daktronics computer.
