Orbits MyLaps unable to select a serial com port; incorrect COM port assigned

Potential Symptoms

Orbits MyLaps will not allow you to select a serial com port in scoreboard settings.
Following Setting up Communications between MyLaps, Orbits, AMB, and All Sport 5100, DD2044163 when at step 8, the drop down for "Port" does not have any com ports available.

Cause

The computer has assigned the serial connection a two digit com port number; ie. Com11.

Resolution

Change the Com Port value to single digit (avoid Com3).

Right click on "My Computer".
Click on "Device Manager".
Expand "Ports".
Right Click on the Com Port with the high number and click "Properties".
Select the "Port Settings" tab.
Click on "Advanced".
Assign a single digit com value (not Com3) and click "OK".
Reboot computer. *If needed.
