Scoreboard: Time outs left on the Basketball, Volleyball, or Hockey Scoreboard counting up vs down

Potential Symptoms

  • Time outs left (T.O.L) on the basketball, volleyball, or hockey scoreboard is counting up or incrementing instead of counting down.
  • TOL show as 0 on the board, but if manually editing TOL (<EDIT>, <TIMEOUTS>) and setting full and partial timeouts to what the settings are in the EDIT settings menu (e.g. 3 full, 2 partials), then it will be non-zero. However unable to take a timeout since the max number of time outs have already been taken. (i.e. 5 or 1).
  • Unable to take a TOL, but TOL time may show on the board and count down.

Cause

  • Console is set to international rules (FIBA) that require the number of Time Outs "taken" to be displayed rather than Time Outs Left (T.O.L.).

Resolution

  1. Press the Menu key on the console and down arrow until you see "EDIT SETTINGS" on the LCD display and press Enter.
  2. Press Down arrow until you see "FIBA MODE" on the display.
  3. Press the Clear/No key on the keypad to change it from Yes to No.
    • When you press the Clear/No key the setting will be changed and the menu will automatically drop down to the next item.
  4. Press the Menu key to get out of the menu.
  5. Start a new game on the console.
