Gas Price Display is blank or is blanking intermittently, Bad power connection on 3 pin cable from toroid going to driver

Potential Symptoms

  • Display blank or is blanking intermittently.
  • Display is dim.

Environment

  • Fuelight or DataMaster
  • FL-2000, FL-2100, FL-2109, FL-2300, FL-4000, DF-2000, DF-2009, DF-2100, DF-2109, DF-2300, DF-4000
  • Gas, Petroleum, or Fuel Price Display, FL or DF digit product

Cause

  • The 3 pin plug that comes from the toroid transformer and plugs into the driver has a poor connection.
  • Have seen instances where the poor connection has caused arcing which has caused damage to the plug.  This could also be caused by excess corrosion/debris.

Resolution

  • Make sure all wires are properly seated in the connector.  Remove any corrosion or debris if present to obtain an optimum connection.

Work Around

  • Replace the toroid transformer.  This option may need to be done if the plug is damaged, the wires will not seat properly in the connector, or corrosion/debris has damaged the connector.
