Microsoft Runtime Error when starting the SmartLink Monitor, corrupted install

Potential Symptoms

  • SmartLink Monitor App is not present on the Windows taskbar.
  • When the monitor is started receive a Microsoft C++ Runtime Error pop up saying "Runtime Error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."

Cause

  • Program has become corrupt and is not able to start up or run correctly.

Resolution

  1. Uninstall the SmartLink Monitor through Windows Control Panel.
  2. Download and then install and setup the SmartLink Monitor App.
  3. Verify that the SmartLink App opens and connects to the SmartLink.
    • If app shows "Not Available" for values after opening, the computer may need to be restarted.
    • Also may need to switch to a different COM Port
