SD Data Converter isn't transmitting signal to modules and the sign is blank

Potential Symptoms

  • Sign is blank after installing new data converter.
  • Modules have a flashing 1 on the 7 segment LED indicator.

Environment

  • Vanguard Display
  • VFC-3000 Controller
  • SD Data Converter (Smart Driver)
  • 0A-1253-1503 Module

Cause

  • It appears to be a baud rate issue.
  • Data converter isn't transmitting signal to the modules.

Resolution

  • Reconfigure Module baud rate setting.
  1. Connect the data converter inline with the sign and the controller.
  2. Ensure everything has power and is turned on.
  3. Log into the controller and navigate to the following menus.
    1. Configuration.
    2. System Configuration.
    3. Configure Options.
    4. Special features. 
    5. Module baud Rate.
  4. Change the module baud rate to 800K.
  5. Change the baud rate to Default. If that doesn't work, then try 100K.
  6. Sent a message or run a test pattern on the sign to confirm it is playing correctly.
