Galaxy: Display dim, temperature showing NA, Partial controller lock up, Venus 1500

Potential Symptoms

  • Display is dim even though brightness is set to automatic.
    • Brightness may show a low level of dimming; example "Brightness: [7]:7".
  • Temp shows N/A in Venus.
  • Venus 1500 is still able to communicate.
  • GPR web diagnostics page shows failures for the light and temp items:
    • FAIL  /proc/driver/temp/Celsius Celsius = not found
    • FAIL /proc/driver/light/ten ten_minute_avg= not found

Environment

  • Product: GPR
  • Component: M4 Controller
  • Control System: Venus 1500 V4

Cause

  • Partial controller lockup.
    • Controller not reading CANH and CANL data.

Resolution

  • If able to communicate, reset the display in Venus.
    • Or perform a hard reboot (power cycle) of the display by shutting off power to display for 45 seconds.
