How do indicators using segment H get signal/power from the driver?

Topic

How do indicators (e.g. possession, bonus indicators),  using driver output segment H (pin 8), get their signal/power from the driver?

How does the hundreds place digit get signal/power from the driver?

Environment

  • Product Family: Scoreboards
  • Product:
  • Component: possession indicators
  • Control System:

Note: For outdoor baseball/softball scoreboards, the balls/outs/strikes circle indicators actually have a breakout harness.

Steps

The general signal flow is the following:
Note: 9P = 9 pin

  1. Signal originates from a driver output jack (e.g. J1)
  2. The 9P to 9P Mate-N-Lok (MNL) Molex harness delivers signal/power from the driver output to the 9P jack on the digit (e.g. harness pn: 0A-1230-003X where X could be 1, 2, 3 ...).
  3. From the digit there will typically be a 2P jack that will output the signal/power to a indicator or hundreds place digit (i.e. segment H)
  4. Signal flows typically through a 2P to 4P harness (e.g. 0A-1230-0051)
  5. Finally signal lands at the 4P jack on the indicator/harness
