Serial radios, no communication, hardware channel address dials set incorrectly

Potential Symptoms

  • Message Center display specific:
    • No communication to display.
    • Loopback tests pass to server radio but fail at client.
    • Direct connect to display successful.
  • Commercial Digit display specific:
    • Unable to change price on any price panel on same structure controlled by a single radio client (network).
    • In multiple client setups, may be able to find one or more networks, but not able to detect all networks or client radios.
      • Example:  DM-100 shows Network 1 of 1 detected in a 2 pylon (2 client radio) setup.

  • Component: Serial radio communications (Gen2 and Gen3)
  • Control System: Venus 1500 V3, Venus 1500 V4, DM-100

Cause

  • Hardware address or channel of radios is not set the same.

Resolution

    • The hardware address or channel is a parameter that should be the same for all the server and client radios in the same network. Set the rotary hex switches on radios to correspond with each other on the same address.
      • Note: Power to both radios needs to be reset when channel dials are changed.
