Environment

  • Venus 1500 v4
  • Canadian French Keyboard

Cause

  • The Text Services and Input language settings keyboard is set to a Canadian French Keyboard. On a Canadian French keyboard the forward slash key is an acute accent é. Even if using a English Standard keyboard, the computer is set to use a Canadian French keyboard.

Resolution

Change the keyboard settings to either English (Canada) - US or English (United States) - US.

  1. Go to Windows Start menu, choose Control Panel.
  2. Select Region and Language.
  3. Click on Keyboards and Language tab, choose Change Keyboards.
  4. From the General Tab, where it says Default input language, change it to one of the following keyboards:
    1. English (Canada) - US
    2. English (United States) - US
  5. Click Apply and Ok.
  6. Click Ok and close out of Control Panel.
