When trying to click Edit or Create button in the Content Tab the Content Studio will not launch
Potential Symptoms
- After updating from Venus 1500 v4.12 to 4.19.1 or first time install and trying to click Edit or Create the Content Studio will not launch.
- When clicking Edit or Create buttons they stay grayed out like they are selected but Content Studio will not launch and no errors.
- When trying to click Preview in Content Tab or Schedule tab the preview window does not appear.
Environment
- Venus 1500 v4.12 to 4.19.1
- Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8
Cause
When Venus 1500 4.18.1 was released, Daktronics stopped using Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 for Venus 1500 and introduced Microsoft .NET Framework 4.
When updating to 4.19.1 or installing for the first time, if XP, Vista or 7, it will install the .NET Framework 4. When being first time installed there may be several security and .NET Framework 4 updates that will need to be installed and applied for optimal performance.
When installing on a new Windows 8 computer, there may be tons of security and .NET Framework 4 updates that will need to be installed and applied.
Resolution
Windows XP
- Launch Windows Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools and choose Windows Updates or go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
- You may be prompted to install ActiveX and/or Microsoft Update, install both if prompted.
- Click Express (Recommended).
- Once listed updates are shown, click Install Updates.
- You may have to restart your computer for updates to apply.
- You may need to repeat the update steps several times as some updates cannot be downloaded and installed until certain ones, so it is important to repeat the steps until all updates are applied.
- Once updates and computer restart is complete, try the Venus 1500 v4 software again.
