Galaxy: Display dim, hard to read in daylight, brightness set to manual.

Potential Symptoms

  • Display is dim and hard to see during daylight hours.
  • May be too bright at night.
  • Display status in the Venus software shows Brightness is Manual.
    • To see this value in Venus 1500 V3, click on the (i) next to Get Status button in the Display Manager.
    • To see this value in Venus Control Suite, navigate to the Displays menu in Venus and the view the configuration menu for the display.

Cause

  •  Display Brightness setting is set to Manual dimming instead of Automatic within the Venus software.

Resolution

Change brightness to automatic in Venus Control Suite.

  1. Log into VCS.
  2. Click on Venus from the My Apps launchpad.
  3. Click the Displays option from the Menu on the left.
  4. Click on the display from the list that opens.
  5. Under the Display Configuration menu locate the Brightness Mode option and click the drop down to change it to Automatic.
  6. Click the Save button in the upper left of the screen.

Change brightness to automatic in Version 4:

  1. Open the software.
  2. Click on the Display Tools option (White upside-down triangle next to Refresh).
  3. Select Automatic option next to Set Brightness.
  4. Click Set Brightness.

Change brightness to automatic in Version 3:

  1. Open up the Display Manager (Lightning bolt button).
  2. Go to the Diagnostics Control View (Green and Brown gears).
  3. Next to Set brightness, check mark the Automatic box.
  4. Push Set brightness
