Video displays dim when All Sport is turned on

Potential Symptoms

  • When All Sport is turned on, the video display dims down.
  • Display can be returned to 100% brightness after the All Sport is turned on.
  • Only one display is being affected.
  • Another All Sport may or may not show the same dimming.
  • Another All Sport with different firmware may or may not show this same dimming.
  • Another code in this same All Sport may or may not show the same dimming.

Environment

  • All Sport 5000 series
  • Venus 7000

Cause

  • Venus 7000 is accepting Real Time Data (RTD) commands from the All Sport because one of the signs has an Enhanced Real Time Data (ERTD) number of 1 and the dimming in the All Sport is set to something other than NONE.

Resolution

  1. Set All Sport dimming to NONE.
  2. Menu > scroll down to dimming > Press [0] will show Level at "NONE".
    1. This setting stays with the code and can be different in each code.
    2. Will need to verify and change all codes used onsite.
    3. Setting will hold on power off of the All Sport 5000 and not need to be changed back unless someone changes it again.
  3. There was a Venus 7000 release that disabled this feature.
  4. Work with a control systems tech to see if the DMP-7000 can be updated to the latest version of Venus 7000, however, not all versions of Venus 7000 can be updated.
