Unable to connect to display via dial up modem, Signal cable not plugged into anything

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to connect to display.
  • Modem on the display picks up (handshakes) but will disconnect after being unable to establish connection to the sign.
  • The Carrier Detect (CD) LED lights up on the modem when called but will turn off after being unable to establish connection to the sign.

Environment

  • Dial-up modem
    • External Communication Box

Cause

  • Signal cable from modem to the Not for Phone Line Use is not plugged into J6.

Resolution

  • Plug signal cable into J6 jack on the modem and verify communication.
