Venus 1500: How do I perform a loopback test with v3 software?

Resolution

  1. First check to make sure the correct COM port is being used from Device Manager: How do I check that the COM port I am using is the correct one for my Venus 1500 software?
  2. Open up the Venus 1500 Administrator if not already opened.
  3. Click on  Network Configuration
  4. Expand Direct Networks, right-click on the correct COM port and select Test.
    • If a Lantronix box  (Ethernet to serial converter) is being used, expand TCP/IP Networks, right-click on the correct IP address/network and select Test.  
  5. On the new window that opens, press the Test button with loopback in place (TX & RX lines jumped)
    • If loopback fails, a "No Response" will appear in the lower Received section
    • If the loopback passes, the same sentence sent out should return in the Received section:
      • the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog
        THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPED OVER THE LAZY DOG
      • This means there is good signal up to this point.
