FLR-500, RC-100, No communication, Remote says "Ent to set channel"

Potential Symptoms

  • No communication after changing channel on FLR-500 remote.
  • Unable to communicate with gas price display with the remote. Remote says "Ent to set channel".

Environment

  • Fuelight or DataMaster
  • FL-2000, FL-2100, FL-2300, FL-4000, DF-2000, DF-2100, DF-2300, DF-4000
  • Gas Price or Petroleum Displays, FL or DF digit product
  • FLR-500/ RC-100 (Wireless Communication Option), Handheld, Remote
  • Base Station (radio on the display)

Cause

  • Handheld on a different channel than the base station in the sign.

Resolution

  1. Verify what channel the base station is on currently.
    1. If channel is unknown, open up the base station and check the rotary dial setting for channel.
    2. If base station is not accessible to verify channel settings continue to step 2.
  2. Set FLR-500 handheld to proper channel.  Follow Fuelight, How to change channel on FLR-500 handheld?, DD2078541 for instructions.
    1. If able to verify channel on base station, set channel on the FLR-500 handheld and connect to the display.
    2. If not able to verify channel on base station, attempt to connect with each channel starting with channel 0 and continuing to channel 15 on the handheld.  Channel 1 is the default
  3. Send prices.  FLR-500 handheld should connect to the display if everything is working correctly and on the right channel.
