TrueType font will not preview in the Content or Schedule tab in old presentations but will preview in new presentations

Potential Symptoms

  • TrueType font will not preview in the Content or Schedule tab in old presentations but will preview in new presentations.
  • When the presentation previews, the font previews as default Arial True Type font.

Environment

  • Product Family: Software
  • Product: Venus 1500 / Content Studio
  • Component: Venus 1500 Version 4.16 using TrueType font

Cause

  • This only is an issue for previewing older presentations in the Content or Schedule tab and does not affect newly created messages in 4.16 or greater. The issue is with messages that were originally created in any version of 4.8 or lower. They were designed/created with the FreeType font engine. In 4.9 we had added foreign language support by using the WorldType font engine. The old messages being previewed in 4.16 are for some reason trying to access the FreeType font engine and not the correct WorldType font engine.

Resolution

  • Update to 4.17 or greater by following DD1993540 on how to Download and Update Venus 1500 v4.

Workaround

  • Recreate each presentation as a brand new message.
