When display connects in Venus 1500 or when publishing to a display, receive error 'Venus 1500 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.'

Potential Symptoms

  • Receive the following error when Venus 1500 v4 connects to the display or when publishing content to the display/when launching Venus 1500:
    • Venus 1500 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
  • When viewing Venus1500.log, there is the following error:
    • Exception has been thrown by target of an invocation
    • Duration Invalid Max Duration is a negative duration

Environment

Cause

  • The Playlist start year is set before the year 2000/1999 and earlier. M2 and M3 displays can not have a start date before the year 2000.

Resolution

Change the playlist to Continuous or change the start and end dates or delete and recreate playlist. 

  1. Launch Venus 1500 v4 after display finishes restart.
  2. Click Schedule Tab, click on View and choose Detailed.
  3. Look for a start date year landing before the year 2000.
  4. Change to the current date, or any day past the year 2000.
  5. Click Ok.
  6. Click Publish or Publish to display.

For Temporary Operation

Clear display memory from M2Config, then try the resolution again.

  1. Download and Install M2Config. 
  2. Launch M2Config.
  3. Click Network -> Configure Connection.
  4. Set up the communication type used for connecting to display, click Ok.
  5. Click Network -> Connect.
  6. After obtaining connection, click Tools tab.
  7. Under Reset Display check Clear Sign Memory and click Reset.
    • Note: Resetting the display may take a few minutes
