Potential Symptoms

Cause

  • Unable to import videos, preview or save presentations with a video.
    Observation
    • Preview will be blank.
    • When importing video, the video thumbnail will not pull in and shows a broken image.
    • When trying to save the presentation with video you could receive error: "TIME STAMP Unable to save M2/M3 presentation: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
  • The root cause of the issue is found when the username (for the PC) and wide characters such as; à, ã, é, ê, ë, í, ï, ñ, õ and etc. For example the PC username is "Invité" which causes the temporary directory to be "C:\Users\Invité\AooData\Local\Temp. Our video import cannot process to a temp folder with these types of special characters.

Resolution

  • Update software to 4.16 or greater. Follow DD1993540 on how to Update Venus 1500 v4.

Work Around

  • Use the software on a User Login, where the username does not have special characters.
