Unable to communicate with display, controller locked up

Potential Symptoms

  • Controller locked up and wont respond to commands.
  • Unable to connect with Show Control, Venus 1500, M2Config or Vanguard software.
  • Display may or may not respond to pings.
  • Sending an "arp -a" command shows IP address of display with an expected Daktronics MAC address.
  • Communication Error!" appearing in the VCS dashboard.
    • "M Series" is Offline (display), but the Bridge is Online.

  • Product: VL Display, Galaxy, GalaxyPro, AF-3010, AF-3020, AF-3050, AF-3060, AF-3080, AF-3090, AF-3150, AF-3160, AF-3165, AF-3180, AF-3190, AF-3197, AF-3200, AF-3220, AF-3400, AF-3500, AF-3550, AF-3700, GPR, GP3, GP4; Electronic Message Center (EMC), Marquee, Electronic Message Board (EMB), Display
  • Component: MDC, M3, or M4 Controller, Ethernet communication
  • Control System: Vanguard, Venus 1500 v3 or 4, M2Config, or Venus Control Suite (VCS) using an M-Series Bridge

Cause

  • Controller is locked up.

Resolution

  • Cycle power to the display.  If issue continues, replace the controller.
