DataMaster (DF series) Gas Price Display, Nine on the 9/10ths is not displaying correctly

Potential Symptoms

  • Nine on the 9/10ths is not displaying or is not fully lighting even though the LED test is working on the 9/10s.
  • Issue is only present on a particular line setting (i.e. if display is set to a different line # via dip switches the 9 on the 9/10ths lights up).
  • Handheld is not displaying the 9/10ths but instead displays one of the following: 1/10ths, 2/10ths, 3/10ths, 4/10ths, 5/10ths, 6/10ths, 7/10ths, or 8/10ths.
  • If plugging in the 9/10s digit output from the driver to one of the 7 segment digits.
  • The output shows as another number besides 8. (It should be an 8), if plugging the 9/10s output from the driver to one of the 7 segment digits.

Environment

  • DataMaster
  • DF-1020, DF-2000, DF-2009, DF-2100, DF-2109, DF-2300, DF-4000
  • DM-100 handheld controlled Version 4.0 or lower (FLR-1500, FLD-2000 kits)
  • Gas, Petroleum, or Fuel Price Display, DF digit product

Cause

  • The DM-100 handheld version 4.0 or lower allowed for adjusting the 9/10s digit.  The 9/10s was accidentally adjusted.

Resolution

  • Set the price and the 9/10s value.
    1. Press the ENTER/EDIT button to modify the price line that does not have the 9/10s set properly.
    2. Press any of the number keys to edit the price value for this line and press the Down Arrow button until you get to the 9/10th's setting.
    3. Press the ENTER/EDIT once both price and the 9/10's value is set.
    4. Press the DISPLAY SEQUENCE button (located in the top right of the DM-100) to send updated prices out to the sign.
