DC to DC converter board failed causing sign to appear blank

Potential Symptoms

No communication to Vanguard Modules. The 7-segment indicator on all modules are flashing 1.  No Indicator lights on CAN board.

Cause

DC/DC converter is not powering the CAN Distribution Board where the signal is connected to, so signal data form the controller isn't getting passed along to the modules.

Resolution

  1. Go into the sign.
  2. Locate the DC-DC converter board. It is in the load center area & is labeled.
  3. Are there any visible red LED indicators lit up?
  4. Use a meter to test power on the 4 pin power plug. Test red & black, then test orange @ blue. You should have 24VDC on each set of wires.
  5. Test the 2 pin power plug. Red & black wires. You should have around 9VDC. If you don't have this voltage, you will need to replace the board. Part # is 0P-1247-0025
