Venus 1500: Received error "Nucleus Server not running. Nucleus server failed to load.", SQL Server not installed.

Potential Symptoms

  • When launching Venus 1500 v4 received error "Nucleus Server not running. Nucleus server failed to load." SQL Server not installed.

Cause

  • Microsoft SQL Server was no longer installed or folder locations were moved.

Resolution

Important: The following steps require a significant amount of technical knowledge. It is recommended for User to seek assistance from their IT or Technical Department or Daktronics Software Support.

Step 1: Manually install SQL Server
  1. Follow How to Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Manually for Venus 1500 v4, Vanguard v4, or Display Studio v1 .

Step 2: Download and run the Nucleus Server Diagnostic Utility and attach database.

  1. Go to https://dakfiles.daktronics.com .
  2. Go to the following Directory:
    • Venus1500 -> Utils -> Nucleus database Diagnostics.

Step 3: Download/save the Nucleus Database Diagnostics.zip.

  1. Right-click on downloaded file and choose Extract All.
  2. Choose a location to extract the files (ie. Desktop).
  3. Click Extract.
  4. Browse to extracted file location.
  5. Double-click on the Nucleus Database Diagnostics.
  6. Click Attach button for both Nucleus Database and Nucleus Log.
    • If already attached, choose Detach and click Attach to each of the database.

Step 4: Start/restart the Daktronics Nucleus and SQL Server.
