Getting 'Nucleus service not running' when launching software and/or Venus 1500 logo splash screen turns Green/Discolored or logo splash screen will not appear

Potential Symptoms

  • Getting 'Nucleus service not running' when launching software and Venus 1500 logo Splash Screen turns Green/Discolored
    • When launching software the Venus 1500 Logo/Login Window shows green and discolored. Also the error "Nucleus Service not running. Nucleus service failed to load" appears.
    • Then when trying to enter in username/password after Nucleus Error, we get error "This operation is only supported on Windows 2000 SP3 or later operating system."

  • Venus 1500 logo splash screen will not appear or show up.
    • No Errors will appear.

Environment

  • Venus 1500
  • Windows XP

Cause

  • Venus 1500 v4 program properties settings is set to run in compatibility mode for a different version of Windows. The Venus 1500 v4 software is not supported or qualified to run on Windows 2000, Windows 95 or any other previous versions of Windows.

Resolution

  1. Go to Windows Start Menu  and click My Computer or Computer.
  2. Browse to the following location:
    • Windows 32 Bit: C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Venus 1500 v4
    • Windows 64 Bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Venus 1500 v4
  3. Right-click on Venus1500.exe (Application File), choose Properties.
  4. Click Compatibility Tab.
  5. Uncheck Run this program in compatibility mode for:
  6. Uncheck Run in 256 Colors (if set).
  7. Click Apply and Ok.
