Incandescent Scoreboard blank, driver receiving high signal voltage

Potential Symptoms

  • Replaced driver and scoreboard still isn't working.
  • Signal voltage is 14 VDC or higher. 
  • Driver part number is in the range of 0A-1033-0101 through 0A-1033-0124.
  • Can hear the relay clicking on the driver rapidly when code is entered.

Cause

  • Optoisolator on the driver receiving too high of a voltage and will not function which causes the scoreboard not to work.

Resolution

  • If a backup AS-2000 or AS-4000 (or possibly AS-5000) is available try swapping consoles.

For Temporary Operation

  • Put a resistor in series with the signal to drop the voltage below 14V DC (install on positive wire).
  • Typically a 300 ohm, 5 watt rated resistor will work (will need butt connectors or solder resistor).
  • Wrap resistor/leads with electrical tape or use shrink wrap to prevent any shorting of signal.
