Unable to view webcam unless connected to Smart Switch; Bad ethernet cable

Potential Symptoms

  • Only able to view the webcam when connected directly to the Smart Switch.
  • Meraki doesn't show the Webcam IP in the Arp table.
  • Mx Control Center doesn't see the webcam.
  • Webcam has Green and Orange lights indicating normal operation.
  • No link or activity lights on one/both of the ports on the cable in between the Switch and Meraki.

Environment

  • Product: DB-5000 and newer
  • Component: Meraki Z1 or Z3 Router, Netgear ProSAFE GS108PE Switch, Mobotix Webcam
  • Control System:

Cause

  • Bad ethernet cable in between Switch and Meraki.

Resolution

  • Replace the Ethernet cord in between the Switch and Meraki.
