Troubleshooting fiber connection between VFC and VCB

Potential Symptoms

  • Details on troubleshooting fiber connection between Vanguard Field Controller (VFC) and Vanguard Control Board (VCB).

Cause

  • Fiber issues from VFC to VCB
  • Troubleshooting comm issues

Resolution

  1. To verify adequate connection between transmit of VCB and receive of VFC check the DS1 and DS2 indicator lights on the back of the VFC. A white light indicates no problem, red indicates fiber failure.
  2. To verify adequate connection between transmit of VFC and receive of VCB check the PL6 LED indicators on VCB labeled DS13 - DS16.
    • Blinking lights on PL6-1 and PL6-2 indicate good receive fiber on fiber port A.
    • Blinking lights on PL6-3 and PL6-4 indicate good receive fiber on fiber port B.
  3. Blinking LED indicators on the CAN line indicators also indicate working fiber.
