Display Modules: stuck in self-test, multiple blank modules nearby.

Potential Symptoms

  • Module may be running a self-test on its own.
  • Power cycling module and reseating cables does not stop the self-test.
  • SATA cable may not be looped from Port A to Port B on the module.
  • May have modules nearby that are blank.
  • Module may have "Pa" for pass code present.

Cause

  • Modules that are blank may have an unintended wiring error creating a large loop and a single module is running the Self-Test.

Resolution

  • Locate the wiring error on the display and reconnect SATA cables as intended.
    • May need to refer to SATA layout drawings or test patterns to identify errors.
