Galaxy (MDC Controller): How do I configure a MDC controller?

Potential Symptoms

  • configure a MDC controlled display

Environment

  • Venus 1500 V1, V2, or V3
  • V15Config or V15CFG
  • AF-3010, AF-3020, AF-3050, AF-3060, AF-3065, AF-3080, AF-3090
  • MDC Controller, Message Center

Resolution

Verify which version of software is being used.

  1. If using Venus 1500 Version 2 or 3 software
    1. The config utility can be located at C:\Program Files\Daktronics\Venus 1500 folder or C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\Venus 1500
    2. Click on V15Config.exe to open the utility program.
    3. After opening V15Config you will see the following window.
    4. Click on the "Set Configuration" button.
    5. Once you hit the "Set configuration" button, the following window will appear.
       
  2. If using Venus 1500 Version 1 Software
    1. The config utility can be located at C:\V1500 folder.
    2. Click on V15CFG.exe to open the utility program.
    3. After opening V15CFG.exe you will see the following window.
    4. Select the correct Display type Button
      1. Character - used for setting up DataTrac Displays
      2. Line Matrix - Used for setting up InfoNet Displays
      3. Full Matrix - Used for setting up Galaxy, Sunspot, and Glowcube Displays
    5. Once you select your display type another window will appear.  The below example is the "Full Matrix" Display Type.
       
    6. The settings that appear are default settings that will be present when opening this window.  set the proper settings in this config utility and once done hit "set configuration".
