Venus Scheduling: How do I create time ranges on a playlist or individual file

Topic

  • This allows for one playlist to be configured to include multiple start and stop ranges.  Use this to prevent duplicating a playlist to play once per hour or for other time ranges.  
  • This tool defines common times of a day for repeated use in playlists or media scheduling.  Use this if you are often scheduling start and end times for standardized time ranges like: morning range, rush hour range, late night, etc.

Steps

  1. Log into Venus Control Suite. Venus Accounts: How do I log in to Venus Control Suite?
  2. Chose the Scheduling App from the Launchpad menu or pick from the My Apps Menu.  Venus Accounts: How do I find my apps?

Add time ranges to a playlist

Click on the Playlist information tile and the Playlist Properties will slide-out from the right. 

From Playlist Properties, adjust the name, dates, ranges and modes for the playlist.

  1. Add a descriptive name to the playlist. 
  2. Select Active or Inactive for the playlist state. 
  3. Select Exclusive or off if this is not needed. Venus Scheduling: What is an exclusive playlist?
  4. Set the timing.
    1. Pick an Initial Start Date. You may also pick an end date if desired.
    2. Select which days of the week you would like the playlist to run.
    3. Time Ranges - Select the time of day you would like the playlist to start and end in the Start Time and End Time fields. Or choose a preconfigured range from the drop down.

  1. Select the Playlist Mode.  This is something to consider if you have multiple active playlists.  
  2. Add tags to the playlist by entering a title and clicking +.

Click on the X in the top right corner to close the slide-out.

Create presets for time ranges.

Do this if there is a need for a preset time range.  After this is set, this will be an option under the Playlist or Media property slide menu.

  1. Navigate to the Time Range page. This is the clock 🕔 icon on the left menu.  
  2. Click add new.
  3. Enter the Name, Start Time and End Time. 
  4. Save Changes.

Add time ranges for media files. 

Do this if there is a need for a time range on an individual file.  After this is set, this will be an option under the Media Properties within the playlist. 

  1. Navigate to the playlist > select a media file.  
  2. From the slide menu, locate Time Ranges. 
  3. Enter a custom start and end time for the media file.  A preset can also be selected.  

By default, the time range will be inherited from the playlist settings.
