How to load permanent messages to a VFC

- How do I load permanent messages to a VFC controller?
- Customer would like to add messages to the Permanent Library, but isn't sure how to accomplish this.
- If a VFC customer wants a specific permanent message they need to make a request and the request will be processed through the VFC or Software group.
Environment
- Product: Vanguard
- Component: Permanent messages (.zip file) provided by Daktronics Engineering, Flash drive / memory stick, VFC, DMP-NTCIP Protocol
- Control System:
Steps
LOCAL. Load to the controller using a flash drive:
- Download and save the file to your flash drive.
- Ensure the zip file is at the top level of the flash drive, not inside any folder.
- File needs to stay zipped on the flash drive.
- Connect the flash drive to the back of the VFC controller J3.
- Log into the VFC.
- Select SHARED.
- Select UPDATE.
- Select ADD-INS.
- Select Permanent message file (EXAMPLE: Daktronics-c12345_1.0.5_all.zip).
- If DMP firmware is older than version 7.16, customer will need a .deb file instead of .zip file.
- Select CONFIRM.
- [Step 1 of 2] Retrieving File = success.
- [Step 2 of 2] Installing = success.
- Go to Configuration.
- Select System.
- Select Optional.
- Run Script.
- Select the Script you just loaded.
- Select Confirm.
- Cancel to the Main Menu.
- Go to Message Control.
- Select Run Saved Message.
- Choose the Permanent message you want to play.
REMOTE. Load to the controller using the webpage interface.
- Log into the DMP web interface.
- For assistance accessing the DMP web interface, contact Daktronics Technical Support.
- Select NTCIP tab (Car icon) along left hand column.
- Select Upload Contact Scripts button. (Must be at version 8.1.02 or higher firmware for this to be present)
- Browse to file location on your computer.
- Select OPEN to load to the VFC.
- Log into the Menu screen using your password.
- Select sign 1.
- Go to Configuration.
- Select System.
- Select Optional.
- Run Script.
- Select the message set you just loaded.
- Select Confirm.
- Cancel to the Main Menu.
- Go to Message Control.
- Select Run Saved Message.
- Choose the message you want to play.
If the VFC is controlling multiple signs, you will have to run the script on all signs listed in the controller if they are using the same permanent messages.
You can locate your Permanent messages based on your contract number by going to Dakfiles.daktronics.com
