DMP: How do I update the controller firmware?

  • Components: DMP-8000, DMP-5000 from versions 7.28 or later

DMP software can be updated individually on each machine or collectively through Venus Control Suite (if installed).

Preferred process: Use the Venus Device Updater to deploy firmware and software.  

Steps

Updating multiple machines through Venus Control Suite

Venus Control Suite (if installed) can be used to update multiple machines

This process can take up to 15m to complete.  While updating there will be a banner in the display settings saying the update is in process. This banner will not update unless the page is refreshed. 

  1. Download the latest version of DMP.  
  2. Log into Venus.  See: How do I log into Venus Control Suite?
  3. Upload the version.
    1. Click Settings on the left-hand side menu and Upload File.
    2. Select the EXE file for (DMP-8000) or DEB file (for DMP-5000) downloaded from step 1.
  4. Apply the update.
    1. Click Displays on the left-hand side menu and select the display to update.
    2. Under the Display, click Troubleshooting.
    3. Click Update Display and select the version to update to. This will update all players associated with this display.
  5. Repeat process for each display.

To cancel an update attempt delete the file uploaded in step 3.

Updating individually through the DMP.

  1. Backup the system files.
    1. Log into the HTML Configuration UI.
    2. Click in the upper-left corner of the screen to expand the main menu panel. 
    3. Locate and click System Backup to save the current and system backup file.  Alternately, a previously saved backup file can be uploaded from this location to do a restore.

  2. Upload the latest firmware.

    1. Click on the firmware tile that is located on the dashboard.

    2. Click Update Firmware, browse to the correct file.

    3.  Click Open to start the update. 

    4. Follow any onscreen prompts to finish the update.  

    5. Clear the cache on the DMP-8000 machine's browser(s) after the update is complete to be sure all new options appear in the Web Interface.
