About University of Massachusetts

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Oct. 3, 2017 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota has partnered with the University of Massachusetts to manufacture and install four new LED video displays inside the Mullins Center on campus in Amherst, Massachusetts. Installation, featuring a 16,000-pound centerhung, took place this summer and the system is fully operational to excite Minutemen fans this fall.

"We are thrilled to partner with an industry leader such as Daktronics to provide this new level of fan engagement during our basketball and hockey games in the Mullins Center," said Director of Athletics Ryan Bamford. "These new displays keep us on the cutting edge of game presentation while also enhancing events for our campus partners and outside organizations who utilize the facility. We think our fans of every age will really enjoy the new experience that we will be able to provide."

The addition of the displays was part of a larger video infrastructure upgrade to the Department of Athletics physical plant which included the creation of a centralized Video Production Suite in the Mullins Center, connectivity of athletics competition venues back to the production room via fiber optic cable, and an overall equipment enhancement allowing the department to produce television-grade broadcasts in full high-definition.

The installation includes two centerhung video displays facing the sides of the arena. These displays feature 6-millimeter line spacing and measure 15.5 feet high by 28 feet wide. Two more displays were installed at the ends of the arena, each measuring 15.5 feet high by 52 feet wide and featuring 10-millimeter line spacing.

All four displays are capable of variable content zoning which allows them to show one large image or to show multiple zones of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

"We are very excited to be working with the University of Massachusetts and deliver a new video system at the Mullins Center," said Dave D'Amico, Daktronics sales representative. "The new two-display centerhung and two end wall displays is a unique setup that is sure to bring an extra level of entertainment to the game-day experience this fall."

Shot clocks, locker room clocks and backboard light strips are included with the installation. The equipment installation is accompanied by creative content to be provided by Daktronics Creative Services at the request of the university.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
