The Skating Club of Boston Adds Daktronics Centerhung Video System

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Nov. 16, 2020 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with The Skating Club of Boston, in conjunction with Act Associates, to design, manufacture and install a new LED centerhung video system inside their new venue in Norwood, Massachusetts. Installation was completed this fall shortly before the venue opened in September.

"The Club is thrilled to include such a best-in-class feature in its new facility," said Doug Zeghibe, CEO and Executive Director, The Skating Club of Boston. "With this type of state-of-the-art support for our athletes, events and programming, the Club will continue as New England's premier center for figure skating for the next generation of national and international champions."

The centerhung features four video displays each measuring nearly 8.5 feet high by 14.5 feet wide. They all have 6-millimeter pixel spacing to bring excellent image clarity and contrast to everyone inside the arena. The centerhung features industry-leading environmental protection to ensure it performs as expected for fans and skaters alike.

The three-rink facility will attract national events at the highest level of competition for figure skating and use the centerhung to enhance the environment during all those events and more. Additional events include community events, family skating, and specialty ice shows and programs throughout the year that will rely on the centerhung for video and supporting content.

"The centerhung really brings the final touches to a great new venue in the Boston area," said Charley Bocklet, Daktronics regional manager. "It brings a visual enhancement to any event for both participants and viewers. It was great to work with The Skating Club of Boston and Act Associates on this fantastic project."

Each video display is capable of variable content zoning allowing each to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, results, standings, graphics, venue information and sponsorship messages.

In addition to the equipment installation, The Skating Club of Boston will also receive a content package that will be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
