Setting up Beaver Creek Gymnastics

Topic

How do I setup Beaver creek to work with DSTI or DCS

Environment

  • Product: DMP 7000, DMP 8000
  • Component: Beaver Creek
  • Control System: DMP 7000, DMP 8000

Steps

  1. Open up ScoreKeeper on the machine with the software
  2. Navigate to File -> Entering Scores

  3. Create an event or edit a previous event with competitors and scores
  4. Navigate to Setup-> Program Preferences

  5. Verify that the Serial Communications option is selected and that the correct com port and baud rate are selected.
  6. In DSTI the baud rate is typically 19,200 for incoming data with Parity of none, Data bits 8, and stop bits 1.
  7. DSTI also should be set up for All Sport for sport and No stats as the interface (if its not setup please consult customer service for a DSI file change)
  8. When using Beaver creek software the output port is typically UDP 33321 for standard RTD in DSTI. That port will need to be configured in DCS as well for port 1
  9. Versions of DMP 8000  prior to 6.4.2 cannot take in standard RTD; DCS will convert it to enhanced. For DMP-8000s version 6.4.2+, they can accept SRTD. For Venus 7000, an RTD input port can be configured for standard without the use of DCS
  10. If DCS is needed, the DCS will need to be paid for and show up under the site's equipment listing.
  11. UDP port 33322 will need to be configured in DCS for port 2.
  12. In Data flow in DCS configure the TX on port 2 to RTD data on port 1
  13. Edit the Beaver Creek dsrc files to accept data on port 33322.
  14. To send test data to DSTI, select scoreboard and display live data

  15. Go to 'Scoreboard' up at the top, then 'Scoreboard Definitions...'
  16. Double click the type of data they'll be using (Daktronics: Team Meet with Individuals is used here)
  17. Under 'Events to Include' make sure they're picking the one they will be using. Current will only give them the current event they are on, and doesn't seem to let you go backwards. All events gives all of the events at the same time and fills in data as they input it. This is VERY important as it will change the itf.

  18. Go to 'Scoreboard' up at the top again and then 'Generate Daktronics ITF File'. This will make an ITF for them to use, or can be made into a DID for DMP-8000s. IMPORTANT - this file is based on the format selected above.

*NOTES*
1) For reference, the data coming into the DSTI will be readable, much like monitoring our own sports feeds in V7000. If the data is garbled or clearly not readable your baud rate is most likely off.

2) After a recent update to Beaver Creek (1/12/16) settings have been reset. Things like "Events to Include" from above, and the length/type of output (Data Settings tab above, things like name length) might be different from what it was before. Use existing content and ITFs to determine what settings need to be changed.

3) If you aren't getting the option to send data on a meet, or it isn't sending, go into the meet and click on the "Output" tab. Make sure the "Display Scoreboard to Control" is set to a Daktronics option. This may be wrong if the meet was imported from a non-Daktronics facility.
