Automated Media RTD from Scorebook Generator or GameDay Graphics Generator populating incorrectly

Potential Symptoms

  • Image messages meant for the one stadium might unintendedly show up at the other stadium

Environment

  • DakStats and Automated Media RTD generators (Scorebook Generator, GameDay Graphics Generator)
  • If a facility has two games going on at the same time and has both stadiums on the same network, then you have the chance for communication cross-contamination.
  • For this to happen.
? You must have both stadiums on same common network (our system sends UDP broadcast network messages)
? You must have game going on at both stadiums at the same time
? Both sports must be the same (both are Basketball, Volleyball, or Baseball/Softball)

Cause

  • If you have the above setup, you will need to modify the default values to have their own unique UDP port for each stadium to avoid conflicting network messages for the images being generated.

Resolution

You can leave one stadium at the default values.  But, change stadium 'B' software (DakStats, GameDay Graphics, and Scorebook) to use a different UDP communication port (default is 32223. So, increment it to 32224 or some other value that has no other Image Generator traffic).

Update to the following versions or higher: DakStats Baseball v4.76, Spray Chart v1.6, and Scorebook v2.3.  Each piece of software will need to be updated to latest versions.

To configure to use a unique port, follow these steps:

  • To modify DakStats 'Sport' Software (Baseball, Basketball, or Football)
    1.  Open C:\Daktronics\DakStats Sport\DakStats Sport.Ini  ('Sport' will vary based on exact sport being used Baseball, Basketball, Football)
    2.  Find the 'Chart Generator Port' entry which should default to 32223
    3.  Modify to desired value and save file
    4.  Restart Software
  • To modify Game Day Graphics Generator
    1.  Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Daktronics\GameDay Graphics Generator\config.ini (C:\Program files\Daktronics\GameDay Graphics Generator\Configs.ini if you are on windows xp)
    2.  Find the 'ChartGeneratorPort' entry under the [Common] tag which should default to 32223
    3.  Modify to desired value and save file
    4.  Restart Software
  • To modify Scorebook Generator:
    1.  Open C:\ProgramData\Daktronics\Scorebook Generator\Config.XML (C:\Program files\Daktronics\Scorebook Generator\Config.xml if you are on windows XP)
    2.  Find the current value - in root node, the 'scorebookport' attribute should default to 32223
    3.  Modify to desired value and save file
    4.  Restart Software
