When launching Venus 1500 V4 it hangs on nucleus service loading, another service is listening on port 9245

Potential Symptoms

  • When launching Venus 1500 V4 it hangs on nucleus service loading.
  • Nucleus Server error log showing the following error:
    • There is already a listener on IP endpoint 0.0.0.0:9245.  Make sure that you are not trying to use this endpoint multiple times in your application and that there are no other applications listening on this endpoint.

Cause

  • Another process or service is utilizing port 9245 which is essential to Venus 1500 operation.

Resolution

  • Determine what process is utilizing port 9245 and inform the customer or customers IT group to have it removed or if possible change what port that program is utilizing.
    1. Stop the Daktronics services.
    2. Open command prompt as an admin and run the following command: netstat -abnop tcp
    3. Under Active Connections in the command prompt output locate "0.0.0.0:9245" and make a note of what it's PID is.
      • In some circumstances command prompt will state what process is listening. If this is the case step 4 and 5 are not required.
    4. Open Task Manager and right click on the catagory line to add the "PID" column.
    5. Locate the process that is utilizing the PID found in step 3.
    6. Inform the customer or customers IT of the problem program and if the program is non seential, kill the task.
    7. Start all the Daktronics services and verify Venus 1500 can open now.
