DMP-8000 Going to Sleep, Incorrectly Showing on Battery Power

Potential Symptoms

  • DMP-8000 entering sleep mode
  • Computer appears off
  • Power light might flash
  • DMP-8000 power plan showing "on battery" options
  • Battery icon visible in lower right of taskbar

Environment

  • Product: GS6, GT6, DVX, DB-4200, DB-5000, DB-6000, BLD-0100, BLD-0200, BLD-0300
  • Component: A-3859872, DMP-8400, APC SMT2200RM2U UPS
  • Control System:

Cause

  • When APC UPS is plugged into 8000 via USB as shown on drawing, Windows believes it is a battery for the computer rather than a UPS, which changes the computer's sleep settings.

Resolution

  1.  Click on the Start button and type troubleshooting, then select Troubleshooting from the search results.

  2. Click on View all in the left hand pane.

  3. Select Power from the list, which will open a new window for the Power troubleshooter.

  4. Click Next to start troubleshooting, which will begin checking the computer's power settings.
  5. After the troubleshooter finishes, it will list all changes made to the power plan.
  6. Click on the Start button and type power options and click Power Options from the search results.
  7. In the Power Options window, click Change plan settings for the DAKTRONICS power plan.

  8. In the Edit Plan Settings window, there should no longer be a while on battery option. If it still shows, restart the computer and follow steps 6 and 7 again.troubleshooting5.JPG
  9. Click Change advanced power settings and verify all settings are correct, specifically any Sleep or Hibernate settings.

Workaround 

  • Unplug USB cable between DMP-8000 and APC UPS.
