Sign does not play content after a power cycle.

Potential Symptoms

  • Content doesn't resume after a power cycle.
  • Sign is blank in the morning.
  • Part of the desktop is displayed on the sign.

Environment

  • Product Family: Data Display
  • Product: AF-6710, LS-1000, Data Display with SBC
  • Component: SBCV
  • Control System: DVS

Cause

  • The sign was reset either manually or by the daily reset and DVS is not set play boot up.

Resolution

 

Windows 7: Place the DVS BAT file in the Startup folder

  1. VNC into the display
  2. Disable the write filter
    1. Close DVS runner and Google Chrome.
    2. To access these click the Windows icon on the top of the VNC window.
    3. Right click on the command prompt and close it.
    4. Click the Windows icon.
    5. Right click Chrome and close the window.
    6. Right click on the command prompt icon.
    7. Choose run as administrator.
    8. enter ewfmgr -all -commitanddisable -live
    9. Once the cursor is at available again and you see C:\Users:\Administrator> the filter should be disabled
  3. Got to Start-->All Programs -->Startup
    • The folder can also be found at: C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
  4. Copy DVS server into this folder
  5. Re-enable the write filter
    1. In command prompt enter ewfmgr -all -enable
    2. After you press enter you should see ENABLE behind Boot Command in the list- this will cause the write filter to restart after Windows is restarted.
  6. Power cycle the sign.

For Temporary Operation

  • VNC into the Sign and manually run the DVS service.  It will work again until the sign is power cycled.
