6000 Processor: How do I add a light or temperature sensor
Topic
- adding a light sensor to the 6000 processor
- adding a temperature sensor to the 6000 processor
Environment
- Product: DI-6000, VP-6000 version 14 or later
- Components: Light sensor, peripherals
- Control System:
Steps
Log into the VP-6000 user interface. See: 6000 Processor: How do I log into the user interface?
Select the Configuration (wrench) icon on the left side menu, and then select Peripherals.
Add the sensor to the Peripherals.
Click Add Manager to add a new sensor manager. A new tile will be created.
Click on the new tile and add a name.
Click on Add Peripheral and choose the appropriate sensor from the dropdown list.
- CAN Light Sensor- A controller area network-based sensor that returns light intensity readings.
- Light Lux Sensor- A controller area network-based sensor that returns light intensity readings in LUX units.
- Multidirectional Light Sensor - A controller area network-based sensor that returns light intensity readings or LUX unit light readings from several directions.
- Temperature Sensor
Configure the tile.
- Choose the display the sensor is connected to.
- Add the PLR and CAN addresses.
Note: The default CAN address is often set to 2. However, this would be dependent on the manufacturing work instructions for assembling the specific sensor. The sensors have a rotary dial on them set by a person, and that address has to match the address in the UI. If a sensor isn't connecting at site, verify the dial on the sensor is set to what you think it is. This requires opening up the sensor housing to locate the dial is on the bottom side.
Light sensor
- Set the Contrast Scalar value (Default is 120 for the CAN Multi-Directional light sensor)
- Select Save when done.
Temperature sensor
- Navigate to Configuration.
- Choose Peripherals.
- Adjust Temp Offset if needed.
- Select Save when done.
Setup the Brightness Manager for Light Sensor
- After the sensor has been added to the peripherals, select Brightness.
- Click Add Manager.
- Add a name for the brightness manager.
- Check the targeted output.
- Choose mode as Auto.
- Select the appropriate Sensor from the drop-down list.
- Add the GPS coordinates of the display location. For example: 44.3, -96.79. Use the Lookup tool if coordinates are not known.
- Choose the brightness limits to be either Day and Night or Limit Range.
- For Limit Range, adjust the slider bar to show the desired minimum and maximum brightness values.
- For Day and Night brightness limits, see: 6000 Processor: How do I set up Brightness Limits
- Save changes.
