How to update firmware on the ILCS2 Image controller

  • How to update firmware on the ILSC2 controller.

Environment

  • Product Family: Transportation
  • Product: LS-1000, AF-6710 Data Displays
  • Components: ILCS2 Image controller
  • Control System: DVS software, RGB test software, VNC software

Steps

  • You will want to restart the sign before performing these steps.
  • This procedure assumes the firmware is loaded on the SBC.
  1. Log into the SBC using VNC Viewer or Tight VNC.
  2. Enter password.
  3. Close all applications that are running (DVS server). Note: Steps 4 through 8 and 23 through 25 are only needed if firmware is not already on controller.
  4. Open command prompt as administrator.
  5. Type ewfmgr -all -commitanddisable -live.
  6. Press enter Key.
  7. Verify the State changes to disable.
  8. Close command prompt window.
  9. Navigate to C:\DakConfig\Test\RGB_Test-Script. Note: Depending on version of controller this program could be located in Temp folder instead of DakConfig.
  10. Select RGB_Test-Script.
  11. Select Display_Test tab.
  12. Select Test_Display.
  13. Select Test_Display verify it responds back with the version info and FPGA version.  See below

  14. Once verified close command prompt window.
  15. Click Setup tab.
  16. Select Update_ILCS2. Note: This will take awhile. to run.
  17. When it is complete the last line will say C:\Ideaager\ISCS2Setup\ilcs2_scripts> (Will take around 10 minutes.)

  18. Close command prompt window.
  19. Select Display_Test.
  20. Click on Test_Display.
  21. Verify that the version and FPGA version is updated on image controller.(ILCS2)
  22. Close the application.
  23. Open command prompt as administrator.
  24. Type ewfmgr -all -enable.
  25. Press enter verify state changed to enable.
  26. Start DVS server.
