Venus Control Suite: DMP and VIP offline, Network blocking web security certificates.

Potential Symptoms

  • DMP and VIP are offline in the Venus Control Suite (VCS) website, even though they are getting internet access.
  • When viewing the fusion console (FCM log) you see the following:
    • "System.servicemodel.security.securitynegotiationexception: could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority venus.daktronics.com."
    • "[Error] Failed to find any endpoints for the server at https://venus.daktronics.com/discovery-proxy/".
    • "[Error] One or more errors occurred. (Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'venus.daktronics.com'.)
      System.AggregateException: One or more errors occurred. (Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'venus.daktronics.com'.) ---> System.ServiceModel.Security.SecurityNegotiationException: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority 'venus.daktronics.com'. ---> System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: An error occurred while sending the request. ---> System.Net.Http.CurlException: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates

  • When trying to go to venus.daktronics.com get an error message: "There is a problem with this website's security certificate."
    • (xxx.xx.xx.xxx represents IP addresses and ports)
  • On DMP 5000 SSH session, running a "wget venus.daktronics.com" test get response:

Cause

  • Network is set up to intercept web certificates preventing computer from establishing a trust relationship with VCS.

Resolution

  • Change network settings to allow the sign to receive correct web security certificates.
