How to save and load a system backup file for a VFC

Environment

  • Product Family: Transportation
  • Product: Vanguard VF, VX, VM, VC6 displays
  • Component: VFC (Vanguard Field Controller)

Steps

Method 1: Reconfiguring locally using a flash drive.
Insert the flash drive into J3 on back of the correctly configured VFC to copy its config file.
Login to the VFC.
Select Shared.
Select Backup.
Select Export.
Wait for it to finish.

Insert the flash drive into the VFC to be configured.
Login to the VFC.
Select Shared.
Select Backup.
Select Import.
Select the bin file.
Wait for it to finish.
Note: Unzip the backup folder and copy and paste the bin file to the flash drive
Login to the VFC.
View the peripherals screen and wait for them to report correctly.
You can also view the version info screen to see if the modules and display interface are reporting correctly.
Run a test pattern or a test message to see if the sign is displaying correctly.

Method 2: Reconfiguring from the webpage interface.
This step can be done remote if the VFC's IP is known.
Starting with the correctly configured VFC.
Type the VFC's IP into the web browser.
Example IP 10.10.10.10:80
Select system backup from the column on the left.
Select create system backup.
Save the bin file to the desktop.

Login to the controller to be configured and select system backup.
Select restore system backup.
Select the bin file you created and saved to the desktop.
Wait for it to load.

Login to the car icon from the column on the left.
Enter the User name: (this is sensitive information, contact technical support).
Enter the Password: (this is sensitive information, contact technical support).
View the peripherals screen and wait for them to report correctly.
You can also view the version info screen to see if the modules and display interface are reporting correctly.
Run a test pattern or a test message to see if the sign is displaying correctly.
