Show Control System: Display Studio Status Error showing "Not Responding" although the M3 display is showing ready in Service Configuration

Potential Symptoms

  • Display Studio status showing "Not Responding" although the M3 display is showing ready in Service Configuration.

Environment

  • Galaxy & GalaxyPro
  • Electronic Message Center (EMC) or Board (EMB), Marquee, Readerboard, Display
  • M3 Controller based products
  • Display Studio Software
  • M2Config Utility

Cause

  • Controller set to not respond to ping command in M2Config.

Resolution

Warning: Misuse of the M2Config utility can render your sign inoperable.

Step 1: Close Display Studio.

  • Click the Application Menu and choose Exit Display Studio.

Step 2: Connect to the display using the M2Config utility.

Step 3: Change the Ping Command in the M2Config utility.

  1. Click the Configuration tab.
  2. Click the Communications folder.
  3. Click Security.
  4. Place a check-mark next to Respond to PING command.
  5. Click File->Set Configuration, this will upload the new configuration to the display.
  6. After display reboots, launch Display Studio to verify status indicator is showing green for the M3 display.
