How to setup RC-100 base stations in server client mode?

Potential Symptoms

  • Setup RC-100 base stations in server client mode for scoreboard or sporting applications.
  • Configure two delay of game (play) clocks to operate from one RC-100 handheld

Environment

  • Product Family: Sports Product, Digit and Price Displays
  • Product: Multiple Wireless Scoreboards, DOG (play) clocks, timers, Multiple wireless Price displays
  • Component: RC-100 Base Station (two or more) 
  • Control System:  Single RC-100 handheld controlling multiple boards simultaneously

Resolution

  1. Set all of the RC-100 Base Stations to the same Channel (usually channel 1) by changing S1 on the Base Stations.
    • Note: by default, the base stations are normally set to channel 1 when they are shipped out.
  2. For all newer RC-100 setups (handheld will show ED14905 v2.2 or higher on bootup), the Function dial (S2) should be set to 5.
  3. Wireless Base Station Server/Client Mode is selected via the "X1" Server/Client Jumper.
  4. Insert the jumper over the top two posts as shown in the "CLIENT" label on the circuit board to put one or more of the wireless Base Station in Client Mode.
  5. Insert the jumper over the top two posts as shown in the "SERVER" label on the circuit board to put one of the wireless Base Stations in Server Mode.
    • Note: by default, the base stations are normally set to server mode when they are shipped out.
  6. Set the RC-100 handheld controller to the same channel as the base stations.
  7. Verify everything is operating normally.
    1. To change the Sport Code being used on the RC-100 handheld:
      1. Press the ALT key in the bottom left.           
      2. Then press the NEW CODE button in the bottom right.
      3. Press ENTER/YES to select a new code.           
      4. Enter in the correct code from the number pad (correct codes can be found on inserts - e.g. code 05 for play clocks).
      5. Press ENTER/YES to confirm changes.
