DMP: Content is delayed by several minutes before it plays to the board, primary backup system

Potential Symptoms

  • Content is delayed by several minutes before it plays on the display.
  • Content will not play to the display immediately after it is selected.

Environment

Cause

  • The content is not present on both computers. 
  • The content must copy from the primary to the backup or backup to primary before it is available to play to the display. This can take several minutes for information to copy from the primary player to the backup player.
  • Example: The A/B switch or primary/backup script button is set to the backup player instead of the primary player, and EU is working with content from the primary player.

Resolution

  1. Switch the A/B switch to the computer that has the content on it for instantaneous playback.
  2. Run SyncBack (SyncBack is usually setup to run every 5 Min), Wait for SyncBack to complete, then it will be available for immediate playback.
    • SyncBack can also be ran manually to avoid having to wait the 5 minutes.
